The key selling points of a home in 2022

As times change, so do tastes. Unsurprisingly, homebuyers in 2022 have a different set of priorities to those in 2012, a new study1 has found.

Since the pandemic, interest in garden offices has soared, with 11 times more listings including outdoor office space as a key selling point than a decade previously. Many of these specialist spaces come fully equipped with mains electric, air-conditioning systems and wi-fi.

Bi-fold doors are another big riser, up by 589%. These flexible doors let the living space be extended seamlessly into the outdoors. Underfloor heating (+114%) and open-plan layouts (+74%) are also in higher demand.

At the other end of the scale, conservatories (-52%), greenhouses (-46%) and fitted wardrobes
(-29%) are no longer the major selling point they once were.
